Topic 3: Being more of a family member than a carer

Do things together that you both enjoy

Listen to the audio of this advice

Nosheen: I want to be more of a sibling than a carer, so we do things together that we both enjoy, like baking or watching something together. And if we have a disagreement, we have a disagreement. We don’t want to hold back anything. I don’t put her disability as a focal point, but I can put her down as a sister and say “Look, you are my little sister. You can be a brat sometimes.” But in a jokey way! I want her to feel as though our sibling relationship is the norm.
